About Nashua re-CODE
Nashua re-CODE is all about fostering sustainable growth, affordability, and community resilience. We're taking a proactive approach to redefine our zoning ordinances and land use policies to ensure that they align with our city's vision.
The City recently updated its Master Plan, Imagine Nashua, over the course of 2020 and 2021. The final plan was adopted in October 2021. This plan established the following vision:
“Nashua is committed to being a welcoming, diverse, and forward- thinking city that offers a variety of economic, housing, educational, and recreational opportunities throughout a vibrant and resilient community that provides a high quality of life.”
Prior to Imagine Nashua, the Nashua Housing Study identified five key considerations for housing: expected continued growth, balancing affordability, minimizing displacement, designating downtown as receiver of growth, and leveraging resources with strategic partnerships.
When complete, the new Zoning Code will reflect and support the goals outlined in previous plans and studies, and will offer clear land use rules for City officials, property owners, businesses, developers, non-profits, institutions, residents, and staff.
